Called, Chosen and Faithful

Revelation 17:14 “Together they will go to war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will defeat them because he is Lord of all lords and King of all kings. And his called and chosen and faithful ones will be with him.”

Are you called? Are you one of the chosen ones? How about faithful? Some are one or another of these traits, and then some are all three! But, all in all, there are far fewer of us than there should be…

[2 Peter 3:9 KJV]  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

The Lord doesn’t want any to perish, and he tells us many are called, but few are chosen:

[Matthew 22:14 KJV] For many are called, but few [are] chosen.

Many fall away, or are ensnared by the cares of this world or become weary in well doing. That is why we are also told to endure and hold on:

[Rev 2:7 NKJV] “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”

[Rev 2:11 NKJV] “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.” ‘

[Rev 2:17 NKJV] “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives [it].” ‘

[Rev 2:26 NKJV] “And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations–

[Rev 3:21 NKJV] “To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

Oh the promise and joy that awaits those who overcome! Do not grow weary saints! Hang on! We win and we win really big! We can’t begin to understand the joy and wonders that will be ours! Our redemption draws near!

It is such a privilege to be one of the called, the chosen and the faithful! Do not let the enemy steal this from you for your destiny is incredible! Do not loose hope or give up! Press on and press in! The opposition is strong because the stakes are so high! We will reign with the Lord!

Father, I ask you to reach out and touch those who are wavering, those who are staggering under the opposition and those who are so beset with the cares of this world and life here; let them feel your presence and your love for them. Strengthen their resolve and give them foreheads of flint to push through and persevere. Give them courage, hope and wisdom to accomplish all your purposes and to fulfill their destinies! Bless them Father! Encourage them and give them peace! Fill our ranks with our brothers and sisters you have chosen from the foundation of the world! I pray in the matchless name of Jesus, the Holy Anointed One! Amen!

Even the Wind and Waves Obey Him!

In the gospel of Mark,

[Mark 4:41 NKJV]  And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”

we see the disciples terrified first by the weather and then by the obedience of the weather to Jesus’ command ‘Peace, be still!” The elements knew to obey, in fact they could not do otherwise because the Lord of all creation had issued a command! If only we as his people would understand

[1 Samuel 15:22 NLT]  But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.

Obedience is better than sacrifice! What do we need to do – obey. It’s simple, yet so hard for some. If we want to prosper, if we want to walk in the favor of the Most High – then we must obey his commands. Jesus told us,

[Matthew 11:30 NKJV]  “For My yoke [is] easy and My burden is light.”

It is not a hard thing to follow God – we just need to believe he is who he says he is and obey his commandments. If only his people would learn this simple lesson – obedience is better than sacrifice!

Father, help us to let go of all our agendas, our own righteousness and the need to have our own way and help us to lean into you! Help us to learn to obey your commands for they are not grievous or burdensome but are light and life! Help us to seek your will and then obey Lord! I pray in Jesus’ mighty name! Amen!

What does God Require of Us?

[Psa 50:14, 23 NLT] 14 Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God, and keep the vows you made to the Most High. … 23 But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God.”

Many think they must fill all their time with projects to serve God, but all God really wants is our hearts. He wants us to realize his provision for us and to be thankful for it. When we thank him, we are offering sacrifices that do indeed honor him and please him.

[Mic 6:8 NLT] 8 No, O people, the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

We get so caught up in trying to do more, to try and buy our way with our good works and deeds. But, this is vanity – and can really do more harm than good. If our acceptance is performance based, we are the most miserable people on earth. Isn’t it amazing how we can take God’s promises and turn them into work instructions and then beat our brothers and sisters over the head with those same ideas?

And yet, all we really need to do is to love God. We must believe him and his word, love him and love each other as much as we love ourselves.  Jesus made it so very simple:

[Mar 12:29-31 NLT] 29 Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The LORD our God is the one and only LORD. 30 And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ 31 The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”

Simply then, love God and love our neighbor. Walk humbly and do the right thing in every situation and love mercy. That means to be merciful as God is merciful. That means we should forgive as God does because his mercy and love endures forever! Praise him for his faithfulness and thank him for his lovingkindness – for he is amazing and remarkable!

Oh Lord, we do thank you and praise you for all you’ve done for us and all you still doing in us, to us, through us and for us! You are a most amazing and loving Father and we adore you!  Thank you for your mercy, thank you for your love and lovingkindness! Thank you for Jesus and all he accomplished for us! Thank you for your plans for us which are for good and for a future. Thank you for your Holy Word so full of promises, hope and clear instruction. Thank you Father that you are the same today as you have ever been and you will be the same eons from now for you are perfect in all your ways! We love you Lord! IN Jesus’ matchless name we pray! Amen!

Thank You Mr President!

Thank you Mr President! We are so grateful for a man of courage and tenacity that is beholden to no one other than the Lord! We thank you that you do not owe the left, the liberal media, Hollywood, any corporate interest or any politician – anything! We thank you that you cannot be bought!
We thank you that you intend to keep all your promises, that you love America, that you love your family and that you love God!
We thank you for your insight, your business acumen, your generosity and the fact that you seem to have the Midas touch. We thank you for running and winning the presidency of our great land. We thank for not caving in to those who hate us (even those who claim to speak for us), or the evil forces who are so dead set for our destruction.
Please don’t loose heart or become discouraged! Those who have been displaced will not go down without a fight – and its a fight we must win for the sake of our children and grandchildren! We (and, there are many of us) are with you and will stand with you – back to back if necessary.
Proverbs 21:1 The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
And Father, we thank you and praise you for the election of Donald Trump as our President as you are the one who appoints leaders. We ask you to bless him and his family with great courage, favor, grace, joy, peace, strength and wisdom. Bless everything they set their hands to and give them great favor everywhere they venture.  Protect them from every attack in the natural and in the spiritual realms. Help them to heal our land, and restore integrity to our government. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen!

A Prayer for Donald Trump

[Psalm 20:1-9 NLT] 1 For the choir director: A psalm of David. In times of trouble, may the LORD answer Donald’s cry. May the name of the God of Jacob keep Donald safe from all harm. 2 May he send Donald help from his sanctuary and strengthen Donald from Jerusalem. 3 May he remember all Donald’s gifts and look favorably on Donald’s burnt offerings. Interlude 4 May he grant Donald’s heart’s desires and make all Donald’s plans succeed. 5 May we shout for joy when we hear of Donald’s victory and raise a victory banner in the name of our God. May the LORD answer all Donald’s prayers. 6 Now I know that the LORD rescues his anointed king. He will answer Donald from his holy heaven and rescue Donald by his great power. 7 Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the LORD our God. 8 Those nations will fall down and collapse, but we will rise up and stand firm. 9 Give victory to our king, Donald, O LORD! Answer our cry for help.

With all the false news, made-up stories and downright lies circulating about our new President, it is important we cover him, his family and his administration in prayer. So many are dead set against him – for no reason except hate – that they won’t give him a chance to prove himself.  There are many, many forces arrayed against him right now and he needs to know there are people right here, right now who have his back and appreciate all he is doing to right the ship.

Ephesians 6:12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

We elected him because we were sick and tired of the status quo, the evil and the corruption in Washington D.C.  And, we still are! Our country needs fresh insight, and leadership that will not compromise with evil.  If there is any hope for America – it lies in the wise leadership of someone with integrity who is not afraid to call on the name of the Lord and lean on Him!

So, I say God bless America and God bless Donald Trump! Help us Father, and shield and protect your anointed one – the one you placed in power in Washington D.C. Bless Donald Trump, Mike Pense, their families and their administration with great favor, and with wisdom, courage and tenacity! Bless them coming and bless them going! Keep your hands upon them and lead, guide, steer and correct them all the days they are in office and heal our land! Thank you Father for this opportunity to turn our country around and thank you Father for giving us godly leadership! We praise you and bless you in Jesus’ mighty name for all you are doing in our land and for our people! Amen!

A Very Personal God

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how personal God is for each one of us. When Jesus went to the cross, he went and endured great hardship and suffered death for each one of us and also for all of us – those who would receive his awesome gift. But, its more than that. Much more.
He paid my price and suffered my penalty for my sin – yes. But, he also rescued me from the throes of that sin. He pulled me from the flames of hell as surely as I can pull a marshmallow from the flames of a campfire. He came and met me where I was and loved me anyway, in spite of all my shortcomings, in spite of my gross and foul iniquity. Though my appearance was abhorrent to him, he took me and shook me and snatched me from certain death. All my righteous deeds were as filthy rags to him, yet he touched me anyway! I was leprous with sin – an untouchable, yet he touched me anyway! And He saved me! He met me where I was and he pursued me and wooed me.
Not only that, but he has cleansed me. Not all at once, although I know some who were cleansed in that way. He very patiently and deliberately helped me overcome all the shortcomings I had (that I am aware of anyway). This process is still a work in progress and will probably not be complete until I go home to be with him. But, it speaks of his patience, and his tenacity to hold onto us and never let us go. He promised He wouldn’t and His Word is good! And, wonder of wonders, He chose me!
John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you.
He didn’t have to. There was no compelling goodness in me that called to him or caught his attention. The fact is, scripture says he chose me from the foundations of the world!  Can you imagine that? For me at least, this is very, very personal. He tells us he catches our tears in a bottle and saves them. His thoughts towards us – individually are as many as the grains of sand on the seashore. His angels record our conversations about him and write them in a book! He knows the number of hairs on our heads and the number of our days. He is all knowing, all loving, ever present and all powerful! And, he loves us!
He is the mighty and merciful one! He is the high holy one – lifted up for all men! He is the lifter of our head! He is the anointed one! He is the alpha and the omega! He is life! And, he is my God and my Savior! My Lord and my exceedingly great portion!
Hallelujah! Praise God! I will love and serve him forever! Father, we thank you for Jesus! What a savior! What a God! He is the lover of our soul and he paid it all – for every last bit of our sin. We are free! He whom the Son sets free is free indeed! Thank you Lord! Thank you Jesus! Thank you! All glory, honor and praise be to the Lord! Amen!

No Shadow of Turning

In James 1, there is a phrase that has always intrigued me

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no change or shadow of turning.

No variableness, no change or shadow of turning. Imagine that! This is so rich, so deep…

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.

All of God’s promises will come to pass – all – every single one! Everything he said he would do – he will do. I’ve heard speculation that there are no shadows in heaven. I can imagine that! The new city of Jerusalem will be lit with the light of the glory of God and the Lamb will be its lamp!

Revelation 21:23 The city has no need of sun or moon to shine in it, for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the Lamb.

Further, scripture says the Lord is not slack but patient

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow concerning His promise, as some count slowness. But He is patient with us, because He does not want any to perish, but all to come to repentance.

So, get ready! Jesus is coming again! He will most certainly arrive just as foretold and that day will be darkness and gloom for the lost, but heaven to those who love his appearing! We can count on it! God will have his way, in his timing and in his own good time.

This verse has always meant so much to me. It speaks of the faithfulness and un-variableness of our amazing God! When I consider it amongst the trials and tribulations of life, I am comforted knowing that God is on his throne and that there is nothing stronger than he is. There is nothing that can depose him, slow him or stay his mighty hand! His arm is not any weaker or shorter than it has ever been! He is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent! He is the Holy One, the highly exalted one, the one and only true God! He is Lord of all creation! And he is with us and will never forsake us or leave us!

Hebrews 13:5 For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Father, we thank you that we can count on you no matter what life throws at us. We thank you that you are solid, a rock solid firm foundation for our lives. We thank you that your plans and purposes will be accomplished in our lives and in the world. We thank you for Jesus who has saved us! We thank you for your Word which is such a rich blessing. Help us to believe your Word and to know that you are who you say are – in every way! Help us to continue to live and walk in your light until you come and fetch us to take us home with you! Help us Lord to be about your business every day and to keep eternity foremost in our minds at all times. Help us not grow weary or faint – give us the strength and courage we need to continue on! Thank you Lord! I pray in Jesus’ mighty name! Amen!
