Warriors!

Most people envision the idea of a warrior as someone who trains and engages in physical combat. Even the word warrior invokes images of physical combat. Yet, being a warrior for Jesus is not about the physical aspects of warfare even though at times it might feel like you have been in a physical battle. But, as a spiritual warrior, most of our battles will be fought on our knees as we pray and intercede for people, communities and nations. We do not overcome evil by meeting it head on with greater force, or by returning blow for blow or evil for evil. We overcome evil and the evil one with good; by doing good, or the right thing in every situation that arises. We overcome evil with truth. We do not overcome evil in our own strength, but in the strength and anointing bestowed upon us by God. Power, love and a sound mind are key instruments in this war and these are our principle weapons.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

The Warrior Anointing I am speaking and writing about is an anointing to change the world we live in. It is given to those who are completely sold out to God and who will obey God at all costs. We are not called to be timid or to be conformed to this world, but to change this world by our very presence. When we walk into a room, the atmosphere changes simply because we are there and we carry the true light within us.

1 John 2:10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

The central idea is that of warrior-hood. What is a warrior lifestyle like? For my purposes, I define warrior traits as: courage, discipline, faithfulness, generosity, honesty, honor, integrity, tenacity, truthfulness and wisdom. We are beacons of light, hope and truth. We are like the knights of old who do good everywhere we go. People can look to us for help no matter what is against them. We will do no wrong willfully. We will pray with fervor and tenacity and we will intercede for those who cannot intercede for themselves. We will share everything we have right down to the last crumb because we know our provision comes from Lord God Jehovah Jireh, our provider.

The true warrior is a very rare person indeed. Our choices are different and most people cannot understand why we live the way we do. We live life with a different set of values compared with the rest of society. Even those who share the same values, rarely live a lifestyle which adheres to those values to the same extent that a warrior does. For most people, ethics are situational. Most people make decisions according to what is best for them, instead of what is truly right. This is not the case with a warrior. The warrior values honor, integrity, justice, and a sense of what is right, above all else. Therefore, for a warrior ethics are not situational; they are his way of life.

John 8:23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.

The warrior lifestyle includes a code of ethics which is non-negotiable. The warrior’s code of ethics, or code of honor, is taken very seriously. To a warrior, distinguishing between right and wrong is of the utmost importance. He sees right and wrong in terms of black and white. It is all about good versus evil. He knows that every action is either honorable or dishonorable. There is no gray area for a warrior as grey is just a lighter shade of black.
