Perfect Peace

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Dwell on that for a moment – perfect peace… Can you see it? Can you envision perfect peace and really come to grips with what that means and how awesome a privilege it is to walk in perfect peace? Can you imagine the sheer joy of walking in perfect peace – never having a care, or a scare or a moment of doubt? Never worrying about anything – ever again? Never doubting who you are or where you fit into the scheme of things? Never trying to figure out your destiny or your karma? Absolute perfect peace – unadulterated, unabashed and completely free from every other worldly concern.

What an awesome and wonderful gift this is! From the hands, heart and mind of the Master Craftsman who fashioned and created everything we can see, everything we can touch and feel and everything we can imagine in our wildest heart’s desire. What an artisan He is! From the very beginning, he knew what it would take to win men’s hearts and turn their eyes from the world back to Him.  He knows each and every one of us intimately – more than we can ever know ourselves. He knows how driven we are to achieve, to make our mark upon the world, to leave a legacy and to effect humanity. He knows how often we push ourselves to do just a little more – to perform at just a slightly higher level or just a little more efficiently. He knows how much we doubt ourselves and how much the enemy of our souls uses all of this desire for performance against us.

Our Lord, The Lord of all creation, knows what it takes to turn a heart back to Him. He told us – very simply and very plainly what we need to do. It is not about our performance or our knowledge of Him , His Word or His ways. It is not about how many souls we lead to Him or point to Him. It is not about how articulately we defend His Word or debase His enemies.  It is not about how offended we are by the world and its wicked ways. It is not about how many degrees we have or the depth of our training in ecumenical activities and ceremonies. It is not about being right or on time, or even in the right place.

It is simply keeping our eyes and our focus on Him, the author and finisher of our faith. It is simply and completely trusting Jesus – with everything! If He is Lord – and, He is! After all, he is the Great I am that I am! If He is Lord, and He cares for us – and He does! He came and lived as a man, tempted in every way as we are and then laid down His sinless and faultless life as the Lamb of God for us! If not even a sparrow falls without His knowledge and awareness of that event – can we not look to Him and trust Him with every detail of our lives?

We can walk in perfect peace. Keep our mind stayed or focused on Him! Trust Him with everything – no matter what the world or those around us say or contrive or postulate. We can trust Jesus completely! When we do, we will enter a new place, a new peace – a new level of peace that surpasses all understanding. If we live and survive the current difficulties or if we don’t and we join our Lord – it’s all good.  We are still in His grip, and in His will and there is no better place to be than right there in His perfect and holy will. And, that my brothers and sisters is how we walk in perfect peace! Trust Jesus! Believe every word He spoke and is still speaking today through His prophets. The Lord is not quiet or somber – why should He be? He doesn’t go about with His hands in the steeple position trying to be quiet or unobtrusive. He is loud, boisterous and full of life! After all, He is Lord of All! Everything is subject to Him! Every knee will bow – every single one, and every tongue – again every single one – will confess that Jesus is Lord! Praise God! Praise God! Praise God! Hallelujah! When we are in His grip, we are home! Finally and forever! Hallelujah! Amen and Amen!
