I don’t do this very often, but I feel led to share something of extreme importance this morning. While I will be speaking of men, women are also welcome and many join us regularly.
There are not many places where men can go and let their guard down. There are not many places where a man can feel safe enough to be completely open and honest – either with himself, with other men or with God. There are not many places where a man can go to be mentored and loved by other men – unconditionally. There are not many places where a man can go to learn more about the Almighty God we love and serve. There are not many places where men can go to grow spiritually and learn to walk in the Spirit.
And yet, I do know of one such place and I thank God He lead me to it and quite supernaturally I might add. You see, I was reading a book written by John Sherrill, They Speak with Other Tongues and it mentioned a group of men that came together to share their testimonies and help others receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This group was and is the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship, International and they still exist today. When I read about them, I remember saying to God “If these men still exist, I think I need to meet them.” It wasn’t two weeks later I saw an ad in a Dandy Dime or some other such paper for a weekly meeting of this group here in Tucson, Arizona! I was ecstatic! I called the number listed and spoke to a man who has now become my mentor and dear friend. I started attending their meetings which are held weekly and now I am greatly humbled and honored to serve as the President of the Tucson chapter of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship, International. I have never felt so much a part of anything as I do the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship, International. People used to ask me what religion are you and I had a lot of trouble explaining that I wasn’t a religion or that I didn’t adhere to any denomination. I believed in the Lord Jesus but I didn’t identify with any organized religion. Mom was a southern Baptist and dad was a Lutheran. I was somewhere in between; yet, not quite either. That is until I found this group of men. Now, I know what I believe and why I believe it! I stand united with my brothers as we battle the forces of evil on a daily basis trying to rescue and recover as many as we can before that last great trumpet sounds!
This group, though small, is comprised of extremely dedicated men who really love Jesus and have surrendered everything to Him. We come together like knights of old and encourage and build one another up. We help train replacements to go back into the fray against apathy and evil and we help bind up each others wounds when we return to share our stories and praise reports. We do not judge one another for none of us is any better than any other brother. We do help one another and we do hone and sharpen our spiritual skills. We come from all denominations – even some opposed to the full gospel. We are not a church, but we support and assist churches throughout our community. In fact, we look for Bible believing churches where we can refer people when we have opportunity to do do. We are evangelistic and try to walk the walk and talk the talk of heaven as we go about expanding God’s kingdom here on earth.
We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and that we need this empowerment to make a difference right where we are for that is where God planted us. We believe the fields are white and ripe for harvest, and we try to live in accordance with this verse of scripture:
Luke 4:18-19 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
If this is interesting to you, or you would like more information then reach out and find us (www.fgbmfi.org) no matter what community you reside in. For the ladies, there is the Women’s Aglow (www.aglow.com) which is also an amazing organization in it’s own right. We welcome all who venture our way looking for the truth (Jesus is the truth!) and we bless all who love the Lord of all creation! We are not about clubs or cliques or setting one over another. Our focus is on the Master – Jesus and completing the assignments He gave us to bring in the lost!
So, come and join us for worship and fellowship where real men can be men indeed! If you are disappointed in organized religion – know that you are not alone. We are not about religion, but about a relationship with the King of Kings! God bless you in the priceless and wonderful name of Jesus, the Holy Anointed One!
