Oh that Men Would Praise the Lord for His Goodness!

Psalms 107:31
Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

Oh that men really would praise The Lord for His incredible goodness!

You see God really is good. So good in fact that men cannot begin to understand or grasp just how wonderfully good God is… He is all the good there is. Every good thing that comes into our lives comes from Him.

James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

He does not sit and ponder ways to tempt man. He is not angry at us. Many people think God is out to get them, or to trip them up or to punish them for their wrongdoing. That time will come, if we don’t repent and turn away, but the fact of the matter is that God is wooing us and drawing us unto Himself. He is weaving a master tapestry of all the events of our lives in such a magnificent manner to bring us closer to Him. In fact, all His plans for us are good.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Oh, that men would praise The Lord for His goodness! Our job is to love the Lord and to thank Him and praise Him! We are to do the right thing and be merciful because our Lord is exactly like that!

Micah 6:8
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good;
and what doth the Lord require of thee,
but to do justly, and to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with thy God?

The more I think and dwell on the goodness of God, the more awesome and wonderful He becomes to me. It is hard to describe, but the Holy Spirit keeps revealing more ways that God is so good and more revelation about the depths of that goodness. I’m not sure we will ever fully understand all there is to know about God’s goodness. But, it is comforting in this day and age to spend more time thinking about the goodness of God in light of so much misery and turmoil. We need to really govern what we think about and try to bring it into line with the following verse.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

When I try and convey this to others, I often get so choked up with emotion I have trouble articulating this wonderful truth. If people really knew how much The Lord loves them, it would cause them to drop to their knees and praise Him for His goodness — as it should! He is absolutely worthy of all our praise, all our adoration and all our love and worship!

Father, we adore you and love you with all our heart and soul, all our mind and all our might! And, we will adore, love and worship you forever! Please help us to be able to share with everyone we meet just how awesome and wonderful you are Lord! Help us live and act as children of God should live and act. Please help people to see just how good you are Lord. Dear Holy Spirit, please lift the veil from people’s eyes so they can see, understand and receive. Please help the people of our nation to turn, see and then proclaim the truth – Oh that men would praise The Lord for His goodness!
