Declare, Decree and Do

In our weekly prayer meeting yesterday, the Lord spoke to me and said “Declare, decree and do.” He reinforced that with the prayers of several saints and it just became clearer and clearer to me.

You see, we are a chosen people. We have been chosen from before the foundations of the world to be in this world at this time, for this season to accomplish all that the Lord would have us to do. We must not fear any man, any government or any man-made structure. We must not fear the enemy of our souls. He and his hoards are extremely busy right now  because they know their time is short and growing shorter by the day.  And, yet, we are in a season of great change. Not merely in the natural, but especially in the realm of the Spirit.

The Lord led several people to pray about the changing of the seasons and yes we are in the midst of that naturally, but I also sense a great change in the Spirit. We are to stop fooling around with the things of the world – completely. We are to stop compromising with sin, evil and temptation and come up higher. And, we are to do this now! The stakes are so very high. People are in the valley of decision, their very lives depend on our response. God has given us fabulous treasure – His Holy Word. And, we need to guard our mouths as never before and only speak life. We need to proclaim His Word over our lives and our communities. It still has as much power as it did when it was first spoken. I am reminded:

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Our words have incredible power. We need to really come to grips with that and believe it. Every word we speak has the power and potential for good or evil. If we are the chosen – and, we are – then, we are filled with the same anointing that raised Jesus from the dead! Death and life are in the power of the tongue. If we do not like the way things are going in our lives, the lives of those we love or our community or country, then we must do something about it. I often feel frustrated because the world will not listen, but the Lord has a plan. Praise God!

We must declare, or proclaim, in a formal, official and emphatic manner what we want to happen. I declare and state my position – that my family and I will serve the Lord Jesus Christ and no other. We will not bow our knee to any other god or monarch, or swear any allegiance to any king other than King Jesus! America was founded as a Christian nation and we shall always be a Christian nation and we will not apologize to anyone for that! If that bothers some, they should leave our beloved country. Islam is not our friend nor our ally. Remember – “From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli.” We have been in conflict with Islam from the very beginning and we are diametrically opposed to their way of life. And, I will not apologize for that either! We are for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I do not hate Muslims – I really don’t. They need Jesus. I am against death and bondage.

Then, we need to decree the principles and purposes of God in our lives. We decree His promises, from His Word over our lives, families and communities. A decree is an official order by a legal authority. We have authority because Jesus gave us His authority:

Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

We should decree those principles of scripture that pertain to our circumstances. Find verses of scripture that speak to your circumstances – especially, the promises of God and decree them verbally and repeatedly over yourself, your family, your community and your country.

  • Psalm 118:17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.
  • Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all our needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
  • Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Finally, James tells us to be doers of the word and not just hearers.

James 1:22-23 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

When I first became a Christian, I thought I had to know everything and memorize every scripture about salvation before I could talk to anyone about it. I made excuse after excuse. But, the Lord put it on my heart to tell others about Him. And, it did it in a big way. I finally learned I do not have to know everything in order to be a witness. It is ok if I don’t know everything. It is ok if I am a work in progress. The important thing is to be real, to be sincere and to really care about others.

Reach out to people with love. We need to be about the Father’s business – rescuing people from the clutches of evil, helping them to see Jesus and to receive Him as Lord, master and savior. We need to do the works He has set before us! Don’t be afraid! Tell others about your faith. Tell them Jesus loves them! Tell them they need Him! Tell them there is hope! Tell them they can have life! Run with the news! There is life in Jesus! There is hope! God is good!

We need to shift from a passive, laid back body of believers into an army of those who are on fire for Jesus and are not ashamed of it! We need to take the high road and take the battle to the enemy. We’ve been fighting a rear guard type of action for far too long. We must shift into an aggressive advancing force for good. We need to seize the kingdom of God!

Matthew 12:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

Father, please give us great courage, great faith and great wisdom to help us reach others with the good news! There is power in the name of Jesus! There is hope in the name of Jesus! Help us be bold in our declaration of the gospel of peace. You have given us a ministry of reconciliation – please help us reconcile others to you! Help us Father to drive a stake into the ground right where we are, to declare our position, decree your will and purposes and do all you would have us to. Help us make an eternal difference from right where we are, I pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!

  1. Declare, Decree and Do. These are words that need to be embraced by those whose lives are oppressed by others and by self. People must change their method of thinking and doing before they can realize a change. Change begins with a complete internal cleansing of ones self. Until that is done nothing else will change. I am not a christian but I do believe in a higher power and that it is my purpose to make a difference in the lives of people for the better. I believe that people have allowed their minds to become so conditioned that they are mentally shackled and and are immersed in complete bondage. Hence your statement (Guarding our hearts means we must guard our eyes and ears and watch what we allow to come into us for it will change us and take us places we do not want to go). People are constantly fed an abundance of untruths that they have begun to live their lives accordingly. We must seek out truth/knowledge and then take the appropriate action in order to become relevant.I am moved by your reverence for life and desire to reach out for those who are lost and inform them what it is that their God has prepared for them. Thank you for this reflective and enlightening piece. I will continue to read more.
