The book of Romans is such a treasure! Everytime I read it, I am blessed and amazed by the understanding Paul had of the ways of God. This book set me free many years ago because of the deep truths imparted within it. One of these verses – Romans 2, verse 4 contains a nugget of great worth:
Romans 2:4 (TLV) Or do you belittle the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience—not realizing that God’s kindness leads you to repentance?
Romans 2:4 (MEV) Do you despise the riches of His goodness, tolerance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
Did you see that? Without the goodness and kindness of God, we would not be lead to repentance and without repentance there is no salvation! We did not choose to repent of our own accord – God lead us to it! Praise God! If he had not pursued us, wooed us and set the stage for us, we would still be wallowing in sin ~ doomed, eternally damned.
Elsewhere, the bible states that the Lord is not slack concerning his promise:
2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV) The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
and
2 Peter 3:15 (NKJV) and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you,
It is the patience of God – working out our salvation from his vantage point – in our lives that makes us and sets us free! He leads us to repentance! He makes a way where there was no way! He makes the streams to flow in the desert! Oh, how good and merciful is the Lord!
I can’t get over the goodness, the richness and the merciful loving kindness of the Lord! I am forever humbled and will forever love him! Praise God! And, yet, we only have scratched the surface of the depth of his love!
Romans 8:38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
We praise you Lord for your loving kindness, your mercy which is new every morning and the gift of salvation which you delivered to us wrapped up in Yeshua Hamashiach – the Holy Anointed One! His name is Salvation! His work is our salvation and freeing us from the clutches of the enemy. What an awesome and mighty God you are! We love and adore you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Amen!
