The apostles were beaten and commanded to not speak in the name of Jesus anymore, so
Acts 5:41 Then they departed from the presence of the Sanhedrin, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. 42 Daily, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
No matter what society or the government says, we must never stop teaching and preaching about Jesus! We are to hold Jesus up high so that others may be drawn to him and receive the gift of eternal life.
If we are His – then this is our mandate. We are to be about his business every day which is the business of fishing for men and women. He told us:
John 12:32 “And if I be lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men to Myself.”
So, let us not grow weary and stop telling others about the greatest gift to men that ever lived and walked among us! In the same chapter of Acts, when Peter and the men with him were questioned by the high priest about why they continued to teach in the name of Jesus, they replied:
Act 5:19 Peter and the other apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.”
This still holds true today! We must obey God rather than men and no matter what any government says or when any society tries to force us to stop teaching in Jesus’ name, we must not be deterred. We must hold on and keep on. We too must not cease to teach or preach Jesus Christ, crucified and indeed risen again!
God bless you all in the mighty matchless name of Jesus, the Holy Anointed One! Father, I pray for holy boldness for all your people to continue to tell, to teach and to preach the truth which is that Jesus has risen from the grave and now sits at your right hand interceding for all of us. And, that he is coming again to redeem us – very soon in fact! Even so, come Lord Jesus!
