Even the Wind and Waves Obey Him!

In the gospel of Mark,

[Mark 4:41 NKJV]  And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”

we see the disciples terrified first by the weather and then by the obedience of the weather to Jesus’ command ‘Peace, be still!” The elements knew to obey, in fact they could not do otherwise because the Lord of all creation had issued a command! If only we as his people would understand

[1 Samuel 15:22 NLT]  But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.

Obedience is better than sacrifice! What do we need to do – obey. It’s simple, yet so hard for some. If we want to prosper, if we want to walk in the favor of the Most High – then we must obey his commands. Jesus told us,

[Matthew 11:30 NKJV]  “For My yoke [is] easy and My burden is light.”

It is not a hard thing to follow God – we just need to believe he is who he says he is and obey his commandments. If only his people would learn this simple lesson – obedience is better than sacrifice!

Father, help us to let go of all our agendas, our own righteousness and the need to have our own way and help us to lean into you! Help us to learn to obey your commands for they are not grievous or burdensome but are light and life! Help us to seek your will and then obey Lord! I pray in Jesus’ mighty name! Amen!
