I first received this last March in 2017.
As I was praying for our country this morning, and about the baseless and mindless opposition from the left, I saw a very high hill, which was very steep and there was one lone figure climbing that hill. I got the distinct impression that figure wouldn’t be able to make it to the top without being overtaken by those who hate him. Sadness enveloped me as I felt this was Donald Trump fighting the left – all alone… then, I realized (rather it dawned upon me) he didn’t have to outrun his oppressors – just persist and continue – strong and steady – keep on keeping on…
And, trust in the Lord! Lean on him and not on our own understanding. Then, in my natural course of reading – I came across:
[Psalm 35:1-11 NLT] 1 A psalm of David. O LORD, oppose those who oppose me. Fight those who fight against me. 2 Put on your armor, and take up your shield. Prepare for battle, and come to my aid. 3 Lift up your spear and javelin against those who pursue me. Let me hear you say, “I will give you victory!” 4 Bring shame and disgrace on those trying to kill me; turn them back and humiliate those who want to harm me. 5 Blow them away like chaff in the wind–a wind sent by the angel of the LORD. 6 Make their path dark and slippery, with the angel of the LORD pursuing them. 7 I did them no wrong, but they laid a trap for me. I did them no wrong, but they dug a pit to catch me. 8 So let sudden ruin come upon them! Let them be caught in the trap they set for me! Let them be destroyed in the pit they dug for me. 9 Then I will rejoice in the LORD. I will be glad because he rescues me. 10 With every bone in my body I will praise him: “LORD, who can compare with you? Who else rescues the helpless from the strong? Who else protects the helpless and poor from those who rob them?” 11 Malicious witnesses testify against me. They accuse me of crimes I know nothing about.
On our own, we are no match for the forces arrayed against us, but with the Lord we will be victorious! On our own, the hill may be too long and too steep, but with the help of the Lord we will persevere! What began as a dire warning turned into a message a hope! The same message that Jesus brought as he endured ridicule and opposition.
Now, today, this really seems prophetic in two ways – one, the Hill is indeed Capital Hill and it is a very daunting prospect for the newly elected and uninitiated – two, because of the completely malevolent mindless and baseless opposition to everything President Trump does. I am so proud of his work in this last year! He has accomplished so much, but there is still much to do to make right all the wrongs of the past administrations and all the corruption that has been so entrenched in our government.
Thank you Lord for your incredible lovingkindness and your mercy which endures forever! We know the enemies of righteousness will not relent so easily and that we are in for a long and difficult fight. I pray for courage, endurance, insight, strength and wisdom for our President and this administration. Give them great favor wherever they go, with everyone they meet and with foreign nations. Help them to root out, rip out and completely eradicate the corruption, lying, stealing and murder that is so prevalent in Washington D.C. Help them complete your purposes Father and lead them, guide them, steer them and correct them all the days of their lives. Bless them and their families in everything they set their hands to, and shield, protect and defend them and their families from every attack in the natural and in the spiritual. I pray in the name of Jesus, the Lion of Judah! Amen!
