Precious Wisdom

In the book of Job, we find many interesting ideas and some really great teaching.  It is a difficult read and many people avoid the book because of all the calamity and disaster Job endures.  Yet, through all of that, Job never sinned against God. His friends accused of great sins, but they were mistaken. And, in the midst of all this – Job gives us a discourse on Wisdom that is hard to beat.

[Job 28:12-13 NKJV]  “But where can wisdom be found? And where [is] the place of understanding?  Man does not know its value, Nor is it found in the land of the living.

[Job 28:20 NKJV] “From where then does wisdom come? And where [is] the place of understanding?

[Job 28:23 NKJV] God understands its way, And He knows its place.

[Job 28:27-28 NKJV] Then He saw [wisdom] and declared it; He prepared it, indeed, He searched it out.  And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that [is] wisdom, And to depart from evil [is] understanding.’ ”

Wisdom is the principle thing and highly desired.

[Proverbs 3:13-15 NKJV]  Happy [is] the man [who] finds wisdom, And the man [who] gains understanding; For her proceeds [are] better than the profits of silver, And her gain than fine gold.  She [is] more precious than rubies, And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.

[Proverbs 4:7 NKJV] Wisdom [is] the principal thing; [Therefore] get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

[Proverbs 9:10 NKJV] “The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One [is] understanding.

And, then there is Proverbs 8, which is my all-time favorite chapter of Proverbs… It gives me insight every time I read it.

[Proverbs 8:11, 18-19, 23, 34-35 NKJV] 11 For wisdom [is] better than rubies, And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her. … 18 Riches and honor [are] with me, Enduring riches and righteousness. 19 My fruit [is] better than gold, yes, than fine gold, And my revenue than choice silver. … 23 I have been established from everlasting, From the beginning, before there was ever an earth. … 34 Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors. 35 For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the LORD;

Ah, Precious Wisdom! Thank you Father for Wisdom! Thank you for the Precious Holy Spirit who leads us and guides us! Thank you for Jesus who has saved us from certain death. Thank you Lord for the singing of birds in the morning. Thank you Lord for the love of little children. Thank you Lord for life! Where your light is, there is life! Thank you Lord for the Psalms, especially [Psalm 16:11 NKJV] 11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence [is] fullness of joy; At Your right hand [are] pleasures forevermore. We love you Lord! In Jesus’ precious name, Amen!
