Can a Mason be a Christian?

I’ve had this discussion many, many times over the last few years. Can secret societies, especially those with multiple layers of secrecy really help enlighten people? Or, is it just a facade? This article is not meant to offend anyone – just to open the eyes of those who may unknowingly or unwittingly have fallen into this trap. I submit is it near impossible to tell the difference between secret societies – they all have many elements of their character that are questionable and lean towards outright evil. Things we don’t want others to see or know about us are usually confined to the dark, because evil likes the dark. As long as evil can remain in darkness and be hidden, it can maintain control over the targeted person. In fact, we don’t gain mastery or control over these things until we drag them out into the light.

[John 3:19 NKJV] 19 “And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

If we are Christians, we have been called out from darkness into the light and all things are new!

[1Peter 2:9 NKJV] 9 But you [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

There are several things that really bother me about masonry. One is they believe all roads lead to God, that all religions are really worshipping the same God, but that is blatantly not true. The god of islam or hinduism or of many other religions is not the God of the Bible – the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; the One true God.

John 3:36: Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.
John 14:6: Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Acts 4:12: Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.
1 Corinthians 3:11: For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1 John 5:12: He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

In fact, masons worship many deities and really are not opposed to any, though they be demons. They say they worship the great architect of the universe. In the Bible, this is called idolatry – a very, very grave offense against God.

Deuteronomy 11:16: Be careful, or you will be enticed to turn away and worship other gods and bow down to them.
Psalms 81:9: You shall have no foreign god among you; you shall not bow down to an alien god.
Isaiah 42:8: I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols.

The vows one has to take as one proceeds up the ladder of enlightenment are both evil and horrendous, and not only affect the petitioner, but their progeny for generations to come. Candidates utter and call down curses upon themselves and their family lines if they ever divulge any secrets of the order. The Bible says

Leviticus 5:4: Or if a person thoughtlessly takes an oath to do anything, whether good or evil—in any matter one might carelessly swear about—even though he is unaware of it, in any case when he learns of it he will be guilty.
Matthew 5:34-37: But I tell you, Do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
James 5:12: Above all, my brothers, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. Let your “Yes” be yes, and your “no,” no, or you will be condemned.

I suggest everyone who is either a mason, or is contemplating joining masonry examine this subject closely before going any further. Search for christianity and masonry and read what Christian leaders have to say about that. Don’t be afraid to humble yourselves before God, for He cares for you! God will not be mocked, and he is not amused by these types of things. The Jews troubles all stemmed from like activity and mixed devotion. They would wander away from God and worship demons and idols, then beg forgiveness when persecution, famine and slavery began. I am speaking this in love to many I care for deeply. And, as for me and my house, we will swear allegiance and worship no one but Jesus Christ, the Holy Anointed One of Israel!

Father God, please open the eyes of all those who have been led astray from you, Jesus and your teachings. Help them to see the truth and set them free from the cords of deception and evil that hold them. Help them oh Lord to humble themselves and repent! Bless the efforts of all those who speak truth and life, and thwart the efforts of all those who speak death and darkness. I pray in Jesus’ matchless name! Amen!
