Again, I’ve been thinking a lot about how personal God is for each and everyone of us. When Jesus went to the cross, he went and endured great hardship, torture and then suffered a cruel death for each one of us individually and also for all of us corporately – for those who would receive his awesome gift. But, its more than that; much, much more and I am very grateful to God for all of this.
He paid for and suffered my penalty for my sin – yes. But, he also rescued me from the throes of that sin. He pulled me from the flames of hell as surely as I can pull a marshmallow from the flames of a campfire. He came and met me where I was and loved me anyway, in spite of all my shortcomings, and in spite of my gross and foul iniquity. Though my appearance was abhorrent to him, he took me, shook me free from all of it and snatched me from certain death. All my righteous deeds were as filthy rags to him, yet he touched me and healed me anyway! I was leprous with sin – an untouchable, yet he touched me anyway! And He saved me! He met me where I was, and he pursued and wooed me – never giving up on me.
Not only that, but he has washed me clean. Not all at once, although I know some who were cleansed in that way. He very patiently and deliberately helped me overcome all the shortcomings I knew of (or, that I am aware of). This process is still a work in progress and will not be complete until I go home to be with him. But, it speaks of his patience, and his tenacity to hold onto us and never let us go. He promised He wouldn’t leave us or forsake us and His Word is good! And, wonder of wonders, He chose me! And, he chose you!
John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you
He placed me here in the land of the free and the home of the brave. I could have been born anywhere – in some spiritually dark place. never hear the Gospel and be forever lost. Yet, He has blessed me coming and going, packed down, shaken about and overflowing though I do not deserve it. Even now, he is healing our land and has given us Godly leadership in the White House. He is restoring us to our former place as a light to the world. He takes what is meant for evil and transforms it into something good, and he blesses everyone who loves him and his Word. He will heal our land! After so many years of praying for that, I can see it coming – breaking through the darkness. Hallelujah!
He didn’t have to do any of this. There was no compelling goodness in me or us that called to him or caught his attention. The fact is, scripture says he chose us from the foundations of the world! Can you imagine that? For me at least, this is very, very personal. He tells us he catches our tears in a bottle and saves them. Also, that His thoughts towards us – individually are as many as the grains of sand on the seashore. His angels record our conversations about him and write them in a book! He knows the number of the hairs on our heads and the number of our days. He is all knowing, all loving, ever present, his mercies are new every morning and He is all powerful! And, he loves us! He really does!
He is the almighty and merciful one! He is the high holy one – lifted up for all men! He is the lifter of our head! He is the Anointed One! He is the Alpha and the Omega! He is life! And, he is my God and my Savior! My Lord and my exceedingly great portion! Oh, how I adore him! And, I am thankful for all of His blessings and to be born and alive in a time such as this! What wonder, what joy awaits us when we see Him face to face!
Hallelujah! Praise God! I will love and serve you forever! Father, we thank you for Jesus! What a savior! What a God! He is the lover of our soul and he paid for it all – for every last bit of our sin. We are free! He whom the Son sets free is free indeed! Thank you Lord! Thank you Jesus! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! All glory, honor and praise be to the Lord now and forever more! Amen!
